A YouTube page has surfaced belonging to someone named Jared Lee Loughner -- the same name as the man identified as having shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., and 17 others in Tuscon earlier today. If the YouTube channel belongs to the shooter, it appears he is mentally disturbed and not particularly driven by any political ideology. You can watch one of his disturbing videos below:
Also from Jared Lee Loughner's YouTube profile -- a listing of his favorite books:
I had favorite books: Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Wizard Of OZ, Aesop Fables, The Odyssey, Alice Adventures Into Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, Peter Pan, To Kill A Mockingbird, We The Living, Phantom Toll Booth, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Pulp,Through The Looking Glass, The Communist Manifesto, Siddhartha, The Old Man And The Sea, Gulliver's Travels, Mein Kampf, The Republic, and Meno.
Given his bizarre videos and that he lists Ayn Rand, Adolf Hitler and The Communist Manifesto among his favorite books, it would appear to very hard discern what if any political motivations he might have had.
UPDATE -- On Twitter, Caitie Parker of Oro Valley, Arizona is saying she went to high school and played in a band with Laughner. According to Parker:
@antderosa He was a political radical & met Giffords once before in '07, asked her a question & he told me she was "stupid & unintelligent"
and:
@antderosa As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal. & oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy.
