It's been a ho-hum start to the PGA Tour season.
Two starless tournaments in Hawaii have dragged on. This week's Bob Hope Classic is five dull rounds in the desert with way too much air time for pro-am B-List "stars" such as Craig T. Nelson and Tom Dreesen.
But next week brings the return of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. On Wednesday, both committed to play in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
"I've been working hard on my game," Woods tweeted Wednesday. "It's game time, hooah."
Hooah indeed. Torrey is one of Woods' favorite courses. It was the site of his greatest triumph, the 2008 playoff victory in the U.S. Open over Rocco Mediate.
Woods hasn't played a tournament there since. He missed the Farmers in 2009 recovering from knee surgery and missed the 2010 event after sitting out with marital problems.
