WikiLeaks is claiming it already has the National Security Agency data that self-proclaimed hackers were attempting to auction off over the weekend.

"We had already obtained the archive of NSA cyber weapons released earlier today and will release our own pristine copy in due course," the organization said in a tweet late Monday evening.

An organization calling itself the Shadow Brokers earlier claimed in a Tumblr blog post to have breached an organization known as the Equation Group, an organization tied to the NSA and weapons like the Stuxnet virus. The Shadow Brokers offered to auction off the stolen data, or make it all available to the public if it managed to receive a commitment of $550 million.

Former NSA contractor Edward Snowden left the agency with a trove of documents in 2013, fleeing to Moscow with aid from WikiLeaks. The information taken by Snowden has continued to come out in small releases, leaving open the possibility that the data purportedly obtained by hackers was also taken by Snowden.

WikiLeaks this year has dominated the news for leaking information stolen from the Democratic National Committee and affiliated organizations, leading to the resignations of party officials.
