A spokeswoman for Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren says the man who repeatedly swatted at a camera held by a Republican staff member is not a Warren staffer but a taxi driver Warren's campaign had hired.
"The person featured in the video was not a member of the Elizabeth Warren for Massachusetts staff. He is a cab driver," said Julie Edwards, Warren's communications director, in an email.
Asked to explain why, according to the video, Warren does nothing to stop the driver's attack, Edwards said the Massachusetts Democrat did not see the incident.
"The photographer has a right to film in public locations, and the campaign had allowed him to film the entirety of Elizabeth's event," Edwards said. "The confrontation was wrong."
The Warren campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the taxi cab company it employed to drive Warren while she was campaigning in Martha's Vineyard.
