The man who shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others, including a 9-year-old who died, today in Arizona is Jared Loughner, the AP reports. YouTube videos posted by a man with that same name include rantings about "mind control and brainwash methods" and an incoherent obsession with grammar and years:

On his YouTube profile, Jared Lee Loughner lists Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf among his favorite books, and a video of a person in a mask burning an American flag is listed as a "favorite" on his YouTube page. In other videos uploaded on the James Lee Loughner YouTube page, he makes nonsensical references to the gold standard, illiteracy, and "conscience dreaming." A musician who reportedly knew Loughner describes him as "left wing, quite liberal," but any attempt to say that his killing spree was motivated by political beliefs is absurd. Not everyone who commits acts of political violence is mentally ill, but if this is the shooter's YouTube page, he certainly appears to have been motivated by insanity.
