Two recent polls, including a new survey released Tuesday from Quinnipiac, show Republican Senate candidate Linda McMahon of Connecticut slightly leading her Democratic opponent, congressman Chris Murphy. The Quinnipiac poll shows McMahon 3 points ahead of Murphy, 49 percent to 46 percent, while a Rasmussen poll released last week shows McMahon ahead by the same margin, 49 percent to 46 percent.
The seat, currently held by retiring independent Democrat Joe Lieberman, is considered a toss-up. The RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Murphy with less than a one-point lead. Barack Obama is expected to win Connecticut, which he won by more than 20 points in 2008.
McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, ran for the Senate in 2010, losing to Democrat Richard Blumenthal by 11 percentage points.
