Federally funded, low-speed train service Amtrak has launched a website to show its support for the gay pride movement and with the hopes of attracting additional clientele.

The Hill reports:

“Amtrak is joining the recent trend of companies taking sides in the fight over gay rights with a new marketing campaign dubbed ‘Ride With Pride.’

“The campaign features a website, www.amtrakridewithpride.com, and advertisements showing same-sex couples aboard trains. It includes discounts to destinations like Martha’s Vineyard in Cape Cod, Mass., which Amtrak says is ‘extremely gay-friendly,’ and a section called ‘out and about’ that lists pride events.”

The homepage includes a newsfeed widget from liberal aggregator Huffington Post in the upper left corner of the site’s homepage. This widget presumably is designed to provide visitors of the Amtrak website with relevant news items, such as the three headlines featured on the homepage this afternoon:

— “Chuck Wolff: I’m Not Dancin’ To Bristol Palin’s Tune.”

—“Martin Weber: The Bronze Eye Is Open: A Philosophy Of Anal Sex.”

— “Ryan Raftery: On The Edge Of Glory.”
