Tom Watson, Nick Price and defending champion Jay Haas are the first headliners to commit to the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, Oct. 7-10, at newly-renovated TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.
Haas, who has won 14 times on the Champions Tour, claimed the Senior Players title last year at Baltimore Country Club, firing a 6-under-par 64 in the final round, tying the course record, and edging Watson by a stroke. The tournament is the final major championship of the year (out of five) on the Champions Tour.
Expect a strong field at Avenel. There is little competition from the PGA Tour as it holds the McGladrey Classic in Georgia, a fall series event. The Senior Players comes the weekend after the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor, Wales.
