Trying to beat the heat with water wasn’t possible this morning for scores of residents of Southeast D.C.
A water main that broke overnight left up to 200 people without water, according to the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority.
The break, on Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast between Minnesota Avenue and 27th Street, was first reported at 3 a.m.
D.C. Water spokeswoman Pamela Mooring said it’s likely a contractor struck the main while working on a road construction project.
Because the lane was already closed for the construction, however, the break did not cause a severe disruption in traffic this morning.
Mooring said the main has been clamped.
