President Trump denounced the explosive devices sent this week to several top Democrats, Trump critics, and CNN as acts of political violence.

“The safety of the American people is my highest and absolute priority and a major federal investigation is now underway,” Trump said during a press conference at the White House.

This week, he also spoke to reporters about a Health and Human Services Department memo calling for adopting a narrow definition of gender that would roll back Obama administration reforms.

Trump said, “We’re looking at it. We have a lot of different concepts right now. … You know what I’m doing? I’m protecting everybody.”

The president also held two rallies, one in Houston, Texas, and another in Mosinee, Wis. Trump is intensifying his midterm campaigning, with plans for at least 10 rallies in the six days before Election Day.
