South Africa’s foreign ministry has complained that it is being “punished” by the international community rather than “applauded” for the discovery of the omicron variant of COVID-19. The travel ban imposed on South Africa by the United States, Great Britain, and other countries promises to level new hardships on South Africa during peak tourism season.
