On Ahead of the Trend, Washington Examiner’s Kristen Soltis Anderson brings you conversations on what’s new in policy, politics, and tech. This episode features Abby Kiesa, director of impact at the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement. CIRCLE has recently completed several polls looking into youth engagement ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

Looking beyond if young voters lean left or right, CIRCLE’s research dives into confidence in elected representatives, voting methods, and to how effective being contacted by a candidate is to a new generation. While there are plenty of pundits saying that the youth are bringing forward a blue wave, the truth is far more complex than that.

It may be often viewed that older demographics are more likely to vote, however thru CIRCLE’s research, polls show that new voters are just as energized and believe change can be accomplished by voting. Kristen and Abby have an engaging discussion on this and how these polls can help prepare analysts for the upcoming elections.
