Injured veterans on a cross-country bike ride stopped at the Marine Corps War Memorial as they made their way from San Francisco to Virginia Beach.

The veterans visited the Arlington memorial for the retiring of the colors ceremony. They hoped to finish their 4,000-mile, 63-day ride this weekend.

Ride organizers say participants wanted to motivate others and honor servicemen and -women. The riders include former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Jerry Bremer and Marc Esposito, who was discharged from Walter Reed Army Medical Center last year after he survived an improvised explosive device attack in a mountain pass in Afghanistan. - AP
