PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — The Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas is laying off dozens of workers at its tower factory in Pueblo.

The company said Monday it is adjusting its manufacturing workforce due to a market slowdown prompted by uncertainty over whether Congress will extend a wind production tax credit.

Vestas spokesman Andrew Longeteig says the cuts represent about 3 percent of the company's more than 3,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada. That would mean about 90 employees are losing their jobs.

Vestas had employed 1,700 people in Colorado, including about 400 people at the tower factory in Pueblo.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/NvgZVL ) the company has told Pueblo officials it isn't closing the plant.

Vestas also operates three factories in Windsor and Brighton that produce blades and nacelles, which house turbines.
