LORTON, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police say a 19-year-old Woodbridge woman has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other charges are possible following a hit-and-run death near Lorton.
State Police say Carol Rood Johnson has been charged in the accident early Saturday on Interstate 95 near Lorton. Virginia State Police Sgt. Jeremy Kaplan says 62-year-old D.C. resident Clarence Alston had pulled onto the shoulder shortly after midnight and was standing next to the vehicle with his hazard lights on when he was struck.
Authorities say the driver fled the scene and later contacted police in Prince George's County, Md., where the vehicle was found..
