NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Newport News police are looking for a disguised man they believe is responsible for robbing 10 discount stores over the past nine months.

The latest armed robbery occurred Sunday at a Family Dollar in Newport News. Police say the suspect was disguised in a fake beard and wore sunglasses, a black hoodie and horizontal striped shirt.

Police Officer Harold Eley says in nearly every robbery, the suspect has asked for a manager and demanded money from the safe and the cash register. Eley says the suspect seemed to know the layout of the store, including the location of video surveillance cameras.

Media outlets report Hampton police are looking into the possibility that the same suspect is responsible for several armed robberies in that city.
