FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County police say a fugitive who disappeared 12 years ago has been returned from Mexico to face drug and sex charges.
The Washington Post, which first reported the story, says police are investigating how 39-year-old Wesley Thomason managed to live for years in an expatriate community near Lake Chapala in central Mexico.
Thomason was arrested in 2000 on charges he gave illegal drugs to underage girls and filmed himself having sex with at least two of them. Authorities say he was illegally selling the videos, and that there could be more victims.
Thomason fled before going to court. He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
Mexican authorities located Thomason last month, based on leads from Fairfax County investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service.
