LONDON (AP) — Ukrainian weightlifter Artem Ivanov failed to show up for the weigh-in for the men's 94-kilogram weight class and won't take part in the competition.

A brief statement from organizers Saturday said Ivanov "withdrew from competition." No reason was given.

Ivanov placed second behind Ilya Ilyin of Kazakhstan in last year's world championship. Ilyin is also the defending Olympic champion and is undefeated in international competition.
