Maximas are the kinds of cars that grow on you. Considerable effort to update the look every handful of years may point to one of the reasons why Nissan owners remain loyal to the brand. It also explains the reason why Kenji Espinal has owned three in his lifetime.

The redesigned sixth generation Maxima was introduced in 2004 at which time the look began to hint at elements of a classier, more aerodynamic, and less angular body than its predecessor sported. Espinal owned a 1998 Maxima at the time and was pushing the 200,000 mile mark when he decided to upgrade to a 2006 model. The car was driven off the lot with a total of three miles on the odometer -- a mile symbolic for each of the three Maximas he has owned with the 2006 model representing the third.

Espinal's initial thought was to throw some rims on the car and be done with it. However, the day the car was officially his, style won over conservation and he tinted the windows while anxiously awaiting the arrival of his wheels. Since then, he's on his fourth set. Three months later, Espinal began exploring the world of car electronics and found a sound system to replace the adequate, though upgradeable, stock system. A Pioneer AVIC-Conservatives,Democrats,Republicans,Barack Obama,Scott Ott:39712322:39712322:Scott Ott's Examiner Scrappleface head unit became the brains that gives the orders to his Pioneer component and three-way speaker set up. To achieve maximum bass output, a pair of JL Audio amplifiers links up two 12-inch JL Audio W6 subwoofers. Espinal couldn't forget about those passengers lucky enough to ride with him on long trips to and from car show events so he had two headrest monitors installed for his back-seat company. And when cramped parking conditions require added attention, a back-up camera connected to a 7-inch monitor helps him steer clear of danger.

After seeing another Maxima boasting a white and black paint scheme, Espinal was inspired to paint his own car. Opting to stay with the original silver color, he had sections of the body painted black. In addition, red accents were painted along the base of the body and on the inner spokes of the wheels.
