Donald Trump promised Tuesday evening to ensure all Americans are treated equally under the law if he is elected president in November.
"This is my pledge to the American people: as your president I will be your greatest champion. I will fight to ensure that every American is treated equally, protected equally and honored equally," Trump wrote on Facebook. "We will reject bigotry and hatred and oppression in all its forms, and seek a new future built on our common culture and values as one American people."
The Republican nominee's vow comes 14 months after he announced his presidential bid. His campaign has been attacked for being racist and discriminatory because of his pledges to build a wall along the Mexican border to keep out illegal immigrants and ban Muslims from entering the country.
