DOSWELL, Va. (AP) — Tickets are now available for the State Fair of Virginia in its first time under new ownership.

The State Fair is scheduled to open Sept. 28 and runs through Oct. 7.

Officials told the Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/NfaPWa) that things are coming together quickly for this year's fair.

The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation and Tennessee-based Universal Fairs will together own and operate the fair as well as other events at the Meadow Event Park in Caroline County through a new entity called Commonwealth Fairs and Events LLC.

Universal purchased the Caroline County property in May for $5.67 million from the debt-ridden former operator of the 150-year-old fair.
