Byron Dorgan, something of a liberal hero, is now a K Street lobbyist. And Bob Bennett, the prime victim of the Tea Party and a vaunted "moderate," is joining Dorgan.

Arent Fox, a K Street lobbying firm, announced today that Dorgan is becoming co-chair of the firm's Government Relations Practice, while Bennett will be a Senior Policy Advisor.

This is no surprise at all. Two months ago, I predicted both would become lobbyists. Dorgan's wife is a lobbyist for the life insurance industry. Bennett epitomized what I called the K Street Wing of the Republican Party.

Here's an excerpt from the press release:

Arent Fox Chairman Mark M. Katz welcomed the Senators to the firm: "We are extraordinarily pleased to start the year with Senators Bennett and Dorgan at Arent Fox. They bring a remarkable amount of leadership, knowledge and experience in key policy areas including taxes, energy, financial services, and trade. They will add a tremendous amount of proven strategic, policy and business expertise that is important to our clients and our law firm."
