WHAT: According to a report by SSA's inspector general, about 30 percent of a random sample of the manual adjustments to individual payments were done incorrectly.

WHY IT'S AN OUTRAGE: Around 14,400 Social Security recipients were overpaid by $7.7 million, and 18,500 were underpaid by $6.7 million.
