Driver charged in fatal Alexandria crash
The driver of a car in a deadly crash in Alexandria early Thursday morning has been arrested, police said.
Javed Hussaini, 25, was charged with DUI-related manslaughter.
Hussaini was driving an Audi A8 on the ramp from Interstate 395 to Route 236 when the car went off the road, spun around and hit a tree. The impact caused the car to split in half. The back-seat passengers were ejected, police said.
A. Tawab Ebadi, 25, of Chantilly, died at the scene. Hussaini and two passengers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, Virginia police said.
Trucker finds human remains
Human skeletal remains have been found in a wooded area off of Interstate 95 in Virginia.
Stafford County police say a truck driver, who discovered the remains near the northbound off-ramp at exit 140, called 911 immediately.
Stafford County and Virginia State Police are looking into the discovery. The investigation is ongoing.
Motorcyclist killed in collision with deputy's cruiser
A man was killed in a collision between his motorcycle and a Calvert County Sheriff's Office cruiser, authorities said.
At 8:11 p.m. Wednesday, authorities responded to Broomes Island Road in the area of Mackall Road in St. Leonard, Md.
An investigation found that William David Hammer Jr., 31, was operating a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle when he lost control and began to slide, according to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.
The motorcycle crossed the center line and struck the front end of the sheriff's office cruiser, which was traveling on the road in the opposite direction.
The sheriff's deputy driving the cruiser was treated for minor injuries.
On Monday, a man was killed when his vehicle crashed into a Fairfax County police cruiser.
