Man arrested after
crashing Metrobus

A man wearing a bus operator's uniform who reportedly entered a Metrobus and was driving it when it struck a tree has been arrested, Metro said.

Metro transit police arrested William Jackson, 19, of the District, and charged him with unauthorized use of a vehicle and fleeing an accident. A preliminary police report indicates that Jackson is not a Metro employee. Jackson struck a tree at 17th Street and Massachusetts Avenue SE. He continued to drive the bus but was stopped by police after the MPD received a 911 call from a witness who observed the accident. The suspect fled the bus and was apprehended.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident, Metro said.
