One man was killed and another wounded Saturday night when a shooting broke out at around 8:30 p.m near the 3000 block of 11th Street NW in Columbia Heights, according to police. Ambulances took both victims to area hospitals, where the gunshot victim succumbed to his wounds. A police spokesman could not say if the second victim had been shot or was otherwise injured and was unsure of the person's condition. A Frederick County man is in critical condition after he was stabbed Saturday afternoon during an apparent domestic dispute. When police arrived at the Thurston Road residence in Urbana around 3 p.m., the man was lying on the ground and his wife was attempting to treat his injuries, according to a police spokeswoman. The man was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. His wife was arrested and taken to the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center, police said. One woman is dead and another has been hospitalized after a fire of unknown origins broke out Saturday evening at a town house on the 1600 Block of W Street SE in Anacostia. Firefighters discovered the women, who lived in the house, unconscious on the second floor. They were taken to an area hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other remains in serious condition.
Man charged in Silver Spring stabbing
Montgomery County police have arrested Alexander Chambers, 25, of Silver Spring, in connection with the stabbing death of 24-year-old Merlin Recinos. Police found Recinos stabbed to death outside a Silver Spring home Saturday morning. Police have not released a motive in the slaying, and are holding Chambers without bond.
