Priest arrested on sex charge
A priest was arrested in Fairfax County on a charge of aggravated sexual battery of a minor under 13. The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston in West Virginia has suspended the Rev. Felix C. Owino after confirming he was arrested Thursday. A diocese spokesman said Owino was serving as an associate pastor at a church in Weirton. He also taught at Wheeling Jesuit University the past two years. Owino remained in the Fairfax County jail on Monday.
Two injured in crash with fire engine
Two people were injured in Prince George's County when a fire engine crashed into a vehicle. Two adult women were taken to a hospital after an engine from the Seat Pleasant Fire/EMS Station hit a car at about 4 p.m. Monday. The engine was on its way to investigate smoke inside a house on Walker Mill Road. The five firefighters in the engine were not injured. Prince George's County Police are investigating the crash.
Man accused of raping two girls
A registered sex offender from Annapolis is accused of raping two teenage girls after giving them alcohol and marijuana. James Mason, 28, reportedly picked up four girls, ages 13 to 15, bought alcohol for two of them and offered them alcohol and marijuana, police said. Police say he then had sex with two of the girls. He has been charged with rape and other offenses.
Police seek leads in Pham case
Police have started distributing flyers in multiple languages in hopes of finding the person who killed 19-year-old Vanessa Pham. Fairfax County Police have published flyers in Vietnamese, Spanish and Korean with Pham's photo and pictures of her vehicle. She was found in a crashed vehicle June 27 with multiple stab wounds to her torso. Police have also released video of Pham's car in the Fairfax Plaza Shopping Center, where she was seen within a half hour of her death.
