Brit posed as U.S. Senate aide
Authorities arrested a British citizen at Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International Airport on charges that he stole the identity of a Senate aide who died in 1994.

Customs and Border Protection officials said Thursday that John Skelton, who lives in Baltimore, posed as Kurt Branham, a former legislative aide to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. Branham died 16 years ago at the age of 28.

Skelton, 41, was arrested Monday night after he presented a fraudulently obtained U.S. passport to re-enter the U.S. following a trip to the United Kingdom. Skelton obtained the passport in Branham's name in 2005.

Police said he faces charges of fraud, making false statements and posing as a U.S. citizen.
