Man killed in District Heights; 9th P.G. slaying of year Prince George's County police are investigating their ninth homicide of 2011 just eight days after the start of the new year.
Police found a man with gunshot wounds on the 3100 block of Dynasty Drive off the Regency Parkway in District heights around 9:09 p.m. Saturday, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland. The man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, he said, the man's identity had not been released and no arrests had been made.
Man's body found in Anacostia Park
D.C. police are awaiting autopsy results for clues into the death of a man found Sunday morning in Anacostia Park near the 11th Street Bridge in Southeast D.C. The man was found unconscious around 8 a.m., but was later pronounced dead, said Officer Paul Metcalf. The death was not labeled a homicide investigation, he said, but remains under investigation.
17-year-old gunned down in SE D.C.
D.C. police are looking for the person who killed a 17-year-old found Friday night near Capitol Heights in Southeast D.C.
Ricardo Vondell Minger was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds around 10 p.m. Friday inside a building on the 5300 block of E Street SE, near Southern Avenue, police said. He later died of his injuries.
Police ask anyone with information about the slaying to call 202-727-9099 or 888-919-CRIME (2746). Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $25,000.
Two charged in June Silver Spring slaying
Two men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the June slaying of Felipe Armando Flores Giron in front of his Silver Spring apartment building.
Jose Juan Torres-Benitez (aka Juan Ramos-Torres), 32, and Edgar A. Romero Ventura, 30, were both arrested Wednesday, according to Montgomery County police.
Flores Giron, 25, had been found stabbed in an alley off University Boulevard East near Carroll Avenue in the Piney Branch area.
