With the Olympics over, that means that fall is just around the corner. And that means college soccer season, which starts this week on the women’s side of the ball and in less than two weeks for the men. On Monday the NSCAA announced its watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy, NCAA soccer’s version of the Heisman. A number of players with local ties feature on both the men’s and women’s side.
Here are the notables on the men’s side: F Will Bates (Virginia), F Chris Hegngi (Ohio State/DeMatha/D.C. United), D Taylor Kemp (Maryland), F Steve Neumann (Georgetown), M John Stertzer (Maryland/Flint Hill).
For the women: M Morgan Brian (Virginia), F Tiffany McCarty (Florida State/St. John’s College High), F Caroline Miller (Virginia/Walter Johnson), M Christine Nairn (Penn State/Archbishop Spalding).
