President Obama recently revealed that 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, for all its other attributes, is also a microbrewery. At Obama's request, White House chefs in 2011 began brewing beer in three varieties: Honey Ale, Honey Porter and Honey Blonde Ale. The brews, favorites on the president's campaign bus, are made with honey from a hive in first lady Michelle Obama's White House garden.

Is Mayor Vincent Gray going to the Democratic convention?

The D.C. mayor faces calls for his resignation as federal authorities investigate his 2010 campaign, but Gray still plans to be in Charlotte, N.C., for his party's convention after Labor Day. Gray aides said the mayor will press the District's case for statehood to other Democrats. The mayor plans to be involved in the Obama campaign throughout the fall and may lend a hand in Virginia, a hotly contested state.

Did Rep. Paul Ryan resign from Congress to be Mitt Romney's running mate?

The Republican congressman from Wisconsin was already on the ballot for what would be his eighth term when Romney asked him to run for vice president. The law allows Ryan to seek both offices simultaneously. If Romney and Ryan lose to President Obama on Nov. 6, and Ryan carries his House district, he'll simply return to Congress next year.
