RIGA, N.Y. (AP) — Jenn Suhr of western New York has won an Olympic gold medal in the pole vault.

Suhr vaulted 15 feet, 7 inches to defeat Cuba's Yarisley Silva in London on Monday.

The 30-year-old from Fredonia lives in Riga near Rochester with her husband and coach.

Suhr has been America's best female pole vaulter for the better part of a half-dozen years.
