Wondering where the District's traffic control officers were while you were stuck in gridlock during Wednesday's storm?

Well, they were driving plows.

"The traffic control officers who typically work the intersections were in plows,” District Department of Transportation Directory Terry Bellamy said during a news conference Thursday. “We had full deployment, and when we have full deployment everyone gets in a truck.”

And where were the plows? Stuck in traffic.

"When you get a system that hits right when everyone is going home... there's nothing you can do," Bellamy said.
