BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland Emergency Management Agency spokesman says heavy rains are causing scattered power outages and road closures.

MEMA spokesman Ed McDonough says Talbot County has been hit the hardest with heavy rains leading to some road closures on Sunday. The spokesman says about 6,000 power outages have been reported statewide.

The rains were also blamed for reopening a large sink hole over a century-old storm drain in Baltimore, prompting the evacuation of two apartments. The rains also closed the Maryland State Fair and postponed Sunday's baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.

Officials say the State Fair will reopen on Monday.
