Recent Oakton High graduate Amanda Steinhagen has a chance to capture her second Virginia State Golf Association championship in a span of six days.

After winning the Virginia Women’s Amateur last week, Steinhagen (35-33 – 68) has a 2-stroke lead in the Virginia Junior Girls Championship at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club in Kilmarnock.

Steinhagen, who will play on scholarship in the fall at Longwood, leads Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake) by 2 strokes and Shabril Brewer (Herndon) and 14-year-old Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield) by 3 each headed into the final round Wednesday.

With a victory, Steinhagen would become the second player to hold both the Virginia Am and Virginia Junior titles at the same time. The last to do it was Kandi Kessler (Charlottesville) in 1980.

Two young locals have a chance to catch Steinhagen, but have a better chance of winning age-group titles. Je-Hee Bae (Fairfax) shot a 72 and trails Anderson by 1 stroke in the 14-15 Division. Jaeyoung Jun (Centreville) shot a 73 and leads the 12-13 Division by 7 strokes.
