After seeking their help on many occasions since the beginning of the Obama administration Joe Biden has turned on his friendly Republican Senators from the land of lobster. Just days after Obama returned from the state of Maine, Biden seems to be criticizing the two Senators he most sought out “for compromise.”

“That's gratitude for you. Maine's Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins joined Arlen Specter to break GOP ranks to make the stimulus possible, and 18 months later Mr. Biden blames them for the fact that it hasn't stimulated enough.”

The Hill had this to say about Biden’s close working relationship with Snowe & Collins earlier this year.

“When the administration was desperate for Republican support for the $787 billion stimulus plan after only a month in office last year, Biden helped win over Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine and then-Republican Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania. When conservative Democrats then started to waver, it was Biden who sealed the deal by agreeing to oversee the stimulus’s implementation.”

Considering the bitterness and difficulty the Democrats are seen to be having in the run up to November it not surprising he is criticizing all Republicans. It remains to be seen if the Maine duo will hold Biden’s jabs against him the next time he comes calling for their aide.

If history is any lesson Biden, Snowe and Collins will be back to figuring out how to help the administration get what they need out of the Senate.
