CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Mitt Romney is visiting North Carolina to get help from NASCAR notables holding a drive to raise money for the Republican presidential candidate and other GOP campaign efforts.
Romney and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus (ryns PREE'-bus) planned to attend an event Wednesday at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte. NASCAR Chief Executive Officer Brian France, car owners Rick Hendrick and Richard Childress and driver Jamie McMurray were among the featured organizers.
The invitation asks donors to give $2,500 to attend a luncheon. Those who give or raise $15,000 can go to a photo perception, while a private round-table meeting awaits those who give or raise $50,000.
Romney and newly-picked vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan visited North Carolina last weekend, holding one event at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville.
