Kevin Fullington is managing Republican Rick Lazio's campaign for New York governor. But that doesn't mean he has to give up his work as a registerd lobbyist. The Albany Times-Union reports that Fullington is still registered as a lobbyist representing the Observer Media Group in that paper's effort to be included as an official publisher of government notices.

Walter Ayres, spokesman for the state Commission on Public Integrity, said that while a lobbyist's registration lasts for every two-year legislative term, they may apply to terminate that status. "We have received no such termination papers from Mr. Fullington," Ayres said.

"Lobbyist" is a toxic term in this race. Lazio was a lobbyist for JP Morgan for a few years, and Democrat Andrew Cuomo is raking in big lobbyist bucks.
