Area journos jammed the night away at the National Press Club Friday night for the third annual Journopalooza, a battle of D.C. bands that have reporters among their ranks. Bands included Suspicious Package with political cartoonist Tom Toles and former Bloomberg reporter Tim Burger, Nobody's Business with McClatchy's Jonathan Landay, Stepping Stones with Washington Post columnist John Kelly, Dirty Bomb, NRBK, the Charm Offensive and Rebecca & Peter. Suspicious Package took home the honor as the evening's best ensemble. Rich Edson from Fox Business Network and Jamie McIntyre from Military.com, who in December was crowned D.C.'s funniest journalist, hosted the event.

"This year, there's a lot more social networking, more bands, and we might raise more money this year," said Joshua Funk, director of business development for the National Press Club. Last year, Journopalooza raised about $15,000 for Reporters Without Borders, the Committee to Protect Journalists/Journalist Assistance Program and the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. This year's event brought in $20,000, Funk projected.
