Home prices in the Washington area are up 10.7 percent in June from a year ago, according to a report released Thursday by Clear Capital, a real estate analytics firm.
Nationally, prices increased by 8.8 percent from a year ago.
Still, Alex Villacorta, senior statistician with Clear Capital, cautioned that the gains should be taken with a grain of salt.
“Everything has to be taken in perspective of where we’ve come from,” he told The Washington Examiner.
When looking at peak-to-current figures, home prices are still down about 34 percent, he said.
“I think the panic has subsided,” he did add.
