Add Evan Royster to the list of injured Redskins running backs. And now he, along with Roy Helu, will sit out Saturday’s game.
Royster woke up Wednesday morning with a sore knee, saying “I had trouble standing up it hurt so much. I was like, what’s going on? I got in here as quickly as I could.”
An MRI was negative and Royster said he felt much better Thursday and was able to do some light running. Doctors told him he just needed rest and that it was “nothing serious.” Royster said he anticipates only missing several days.
He doesn’t want to take his position on the team for granted.
“I don’t feel I’ve accomplished enough right now,” he said. “I still want to get out there and prove I deserve to be on this team. It’s a minor setback but hopefully I’ll still get the chance in the fourth game.”
Helu will miss his second consecutive preseason game because of soreness in his Achilles.
