A new poll released by Rasmussen Reports on Wednesday showed that a majority of Americans want to end sanctuary cities.

The Daily Caller reported that 62 percent of likely voters support the Justice Department taking legal action against cities that provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants.

Nearly as many people -- 58 percent -- support the federal government cutting off funds to sanctuary cities, according to that same poll.

Many politicians, including Democrats, have changed their opinion on the issue, especially in the wake of the Kate Steinle murder.

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton have joined Republican immigration restrictionists like Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, and Pennsylvania Rep. Lou Barletta in calling on San Francisco and other sanctuary cities to change their ways.

This is especially true for Clinton, who enthusaistically supported sanctuary cities on several different occasions during the 2008 election. At that time, she even said they help with safety.
