Rachel Maddow appeared on Wednesday's Late Night with Seth Meyers where she declared that she was extremely excited that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is running for president.

The MSNBC host said it was refreshing as a liberal to see Sanders campaign in red states and draw huge crowds all while supporting left-wing ideas.

"Bernie Sanders is fearless, and he will turn out a big crowd everywhere he goes," Maddow said. "The one thing I think that is really nice about it is it's making the beltway press remember there are liberals, which doesn't usually happen. We pay so much attention to the Republican Party and how they deal with their crazies and the people who are really far-right in that party, we forget that the Democratic Party has real liberals as part of its constituents. He's rewarding people who want to go out and want to hear an unapologetic liberal message."

It almost sounds like Maddow is referring to liberals as the Democratic Party's crazies.
