Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has been lagging at 1 percent in the polls since declaring his run for president on June 1, made an appearance on CNN's State of the Union Sunday where he seemingly channeled Miley Cyrus with his responses.
Graham attacked his fellow Republican presidential contender Donald Trump over his statements on illegal immigrants. The senator is a longtime supporter of rewarding American citizenship to foreign nationals who break the law, earning him the title "Lindsey Grahamnesty" by conservative critics.
"Most illegal immigrants are decent, hardworking people and some are criminals," Graham said on CNN.
He called on all Republicans in a "responsible position" to reject Trump or risk losing Hispanic voters. Graham echoed the words of Miley Cyrus to describe the billionaire.
“I think he’s hijacked the debate. I think he’s a wrecking ball for the future of the Republican Party with the Hispanic community, and we need to push back," he said.
Trump has ascended to frontrunner status in the Republican primary on the issue of illegal immigration, putting Graham and others who support amnesty at odds with their party.
