Plenty of “national security” types are in favor of throwing Edward Snowden in prison—but one former senator decided to take things a bit further, and call for Snowden to be publicly hanged.
According to The Hill, former Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), once a ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, enthuisiastically endorsed execution for Snowden during remarks to students at the University of Georgia.
“We need to hang him on the courthouse square as soon was we get our hands on him,” he said.
“I hope none of you have any sympathy for him.”
Chambliss was principally speaking about the Office of Personnel Management hack.
“Just like with Snowden, we’re going to lose American lives as result of this breach,” he said.
Unfortunately for Chambliss, the United States has already promised Russia that they would not torture or execute Snowden.
