The Des Moines Register, a major paper in the nation's first caucus state, is demanding that the leading Republican candidate drop out of the 2016 race.

An editorial in the paper Tuesday claims that presidential contender Donald Trump must end "his bloviating side show."

After Trump's attack on Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) war record, the paper came to the conclusion that the billionaire is only running for his own narcissism and is nothing more than a "B-list celebrity." It went on to detail that he is unable to focus seriously on the problems facing the country.

"Trump has proven himself not only unfit to hold office but unfit to stand on the same stage as his Republican opponents," the editorial stated.

They condemned his attacks on McCain and stated it was nothing more than "offensive" and "disgraceful," before calling Trump a "feckless blowhard."

"The best way Donald Trump can serve his country is by apologizing to McCain and terminating this ill-conceived campaign," the Des Moines Register editorial said.

While Trump is leading in national polls, Wisconsin Scott Walker (R) has enjoyed a comfortable lead in Iowa since February.
