New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) has been lagging in the presidential polls, but rather than cry about his bad numbers he decided to laugh at frontrunner Donald Trump.
Bloomberg News reported on Thursday that Christie informed the billionaire that he can't expect to fire people he disagrees with if he's elected president.
"You cannot look at the speaker of the House and say ‘You're fired,’ ” Christie said, mocking Trump's famous line from The Apprentice. “As much as you might like to, you can't look at Harry Reid or Mitch McConnell and say ‘You're fired’ if you don't get what you want."
While the governor has called Trump "a friend" and spoken kindly of him in the past, he expressed doubts that he is capable of the job.
"I know he says he tells it like it is too. I tell it like it is from the standpoint of having actually done these jobs," he told supporters in New Hampshire. "I think, quite frankly, Donald would be a little frustrated if he became president of the United States."
Christie has been banking his campaign on winning the more moderate state of New Hampshire where he currently polls in seventh place with 5.3 percent of the vote, according to Real Clear Politics.
