A Texas A&M student recently reached out via Twitter to NFL player Arian Foster, asking for help with buying textbooks for school. To his shock, Foster replied, actually promising to buy him the books.
Foster has more than 500,000 followers on Twitter, and a five-year, $45.3 million deal with the Houston Texans, according to Sporting News. The odds of Foster even seeing the tweet, much less responding with an affirmative answer, were about as slim as they come.
"To be honest, it was sort of a humor tweet. I never thought he would see it considering how busy he might be. I assumed most athletes and celebrities don't pay attention to their mentions," Guerrero told Sporting News.
But within a few hours of the tweet, Foster responded.
@ArianFoster no way, I never thought you would read that. Tbh I'm probably gonna rent them to save some money. Shouldn't cost more than $200

"I was honored that he took the time to even read my tweet, let alone consider paying for my textbooks," Guerrero said.
After a brief conversation, Foster gave Guerrero an email to contact him via a direct message, and told Guerrero, "We'll make it happen."
Wow never in my life has anything like this happened. @ArianFoster is the realist out there. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!
