ISMAY, Mont. (AP) — Several rail cars are burning in an unpopulated area of eastern Montana after a freight train derailed.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas says 14 tanker cars containing denatured alcohol and one car hauling cardboard derailed Sunday afternoon between Baker and Ismay. That's about 180 miles northeast of Billings.

The cars were part of a 106-car consist headed to Laurel, Mont., from Aberdeen, S.D.

Melonas says eight cars caught fire, but no one was injured and there are no evacuations.

Denatured alcohol is used as a fuel additive. Firefighters planned to let it burn off on its own.

Crews plan to reopen the track as early as Monday. About eight to 10 trains usually travel along that stretch every day.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
