Throughout the opening 20 minutes of his planned economic address Monday, Donald Trump was interrupted 12 separate times by protesters.
After almost every interruption, Trump remained unusually quiet as each protester was escorted from the venue, except for one in which he took a shot at supporters of Hillary Clinton.
"I will say, the Bernie Sanders people had far more energy and spirit. I will say that," Trump told the crowd. Later on, he noted that the protests were "very well planned out."
Reporters in attendance noted that the vast majority of protestors were women.
Trump's reaction to the interruptions varied at times. Sometimes he simply talked over the protester. At other times, he stood at the podium and smiled as the protester was removed from the venue.
